We interviewed Sarah for a better understanding:
1. What was you first thought when you noticed the wild cat?
"Well, at first I just thought it was some type of panther or leopard but then as I looked at it a bit closer it didn’t look like a wild cat that I have seen before.”
2. How would you describe this species of wild cat?
“It had red-y brown coloured fur which looked very shiny and smooth. I didn’t have the greatest view of it but it looked very much like a black panther but brown
3. How did the cat react when you saw it?
“When i first noticed the cat in the tree it seemed that it didn’t mind being watched and it was quite relaxed just cleaning him/herself. But as the crowd of tourists grew it started to get a bit nervous and aware of his surroundings.”
4. How do you feel to be the first ever human recorded to discover this species of wild cat?
"To be honest, I feel so honoured and special to be the first person to find this species and when I get back home to my family in England, I'm going to have a big celebration.
5. Do You think there are others of this species of wild cat in the world?
"I'm not sure really, but hopefully there are others and if there are, I hope they don't get hunted for their fur because they are beautiful animals that deserve to be free."
Based on the information about the cat, scientists are not sure if this cat is only one of it's kind or it is apart of a whole species of wild cat.
